How To Protect Your Skeleton
I have often said, “I would be in great shape if it was not for this skeleton of mine.” When you think about it, our average lifespan has increased a whopping 80% in the last 100 years. However, our musculoskeletal system has not had enough time to adapt and catch up. In other words, from a mechanical standpoint, we were not built to last much more than 40 or 50 years.
Most of us have had aches or pains that may have hindered our exercise routine or even our ability to “hop” out of bed. Here are some tips to stave off the aging process:
- Don’t neglect proper stretching.
- Never perform the same or similar routine two days in a row.
- Pay attention when your body requires rest.
- Ensure proper sleep.
- Recognize and act upon an injury when it happens.
- Know and respect your limitations.
- Consider calcium and vitamin D supplementation.
