Dr. Miller: Atlanta Top Doctor for 15th Straight Year
Scott Miller, MD, MBA, has been named to the Atlanta Magazine’s 2023 list of Top Doctors for the 15th year in a row. The Top Doctors are chosen by a vote of their peers.
Dr. Miller serves as Medical Director of Wellstar Urology, a 24-physician practice and also as Director of Wellstar Robotic Surgical Services. He sees urology patients in Roswell and at Wellstar Avalon Health Park.
A board-certified urologist for more than 25 years, Dr. Miller believes patients should be informed and involved in their care and is an advocate for minimally-invasive techniques that allow patients to leave the hospital and be back on their feet sooner. He performed the first robotic prostate removal in Georgia 20 years ago and has one of the largest, most diverse experiences in laparoscopic and robotic urology in the Southeast. Today he is one of just a few private practice physicians nationwide with extensive experience on the newest generation of surgical robots, Intuitive’s da Vinci SP Robotic System.
“To be voted a top urologist in Georgia is such a great compliment,” Dr. Miller said. “Hopefully, this award can help to create more awareness about the men’s health issues that I care so deeply about. It is a long-time goal of mine to bring greater awareness to prostate cancer, which is the second-most common cancer among American men.”
Dr. Miller has been helping patients fight prostate cancer since he became a physician. He founded ProstAware, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 2009, to generate increased awareness about the disease and to empower men to take control of their health.
A graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Miller completed his urologic residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and his residency program was one of the first globally to introduce advanced urologic laparoscopy techniques. Dr. Miller is board-certified by the American Board of Urology and he is an active member of the American Urological Association, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Endourological Society.
Dr. Miller provides education to other physicians through peer-reviewed journal and book chapter publications, hands-on teaching and scientific presentations.
