February 13, 2013 (Atlanta) – Scott D. Miller, MD, will participate in an educational panel called, “Live, Laugh, Love: Oncology, Sex, and Intimacy,” on Wednesday, February 20, from 12 – 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at Northside Hospital’s The Cancer Support Community – Atlanta, located at 5775 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Building C, Suite 225, Atlanta 30342.
The panel will discuss how changes in body image, as well as physical changes and other side effects to treatment, can affect both physical and emotional intimacy.
Dr. Miller is participating in the panel to raise awareness. “It’s important to me to help raise awareness of issues related to intimacy, sexuality and fertility as they relate to cancer, because it is vital that healthcare providers treat the whole patient, not just their disease. I hope that the discussion will make patients realize they are not alone, and that talking about these issues openly with their healthcare providers is good.”
