Robotic Prostate Removal
Dr. Miller is a great guy. It struck us in the beginning, my wife and I talked about this to some extent. The fact that he is such a technically-oriented person, but he really has a great personality and a wonderful bedside manner. So we were well-pleased and, frankly, surprised at that attitude. The advantages that were explained to me and which were verified by everybody I talked with were number one- it’s a non-invasive type of surgery, if you could call a radical prostatectomy non-invasive. It involved a laparoscopic and robotic-assisted procedure that appealed to me as well as the fact that the recovery time was much less and I’m still working so I wanted to get back to work as soon as possible.
So, we went ahead and we had the surgery. I was operated on, on a Thursday. I remember last year, so almost year ago. And by noon the next day, I was back home in my own surroundings. Never took but two or three pain pills just for little discomfort, never had any real what I would call pain with the process before or after. I spent approximately a week with a catheter and had no problems with incontinence from the immediate time it was removed. From that point on, no problems and I was back at work actually the Monday following the Thursday I was operated on. I was really doing work from my home office by email and the like and just no pain, no discomfort at all. I mean if I couldn’t see these little places that they cut my tummy, I wouldn’t know that I had the surgery except for the urological difference and so forth. But, no side effects and I am very pleased.
