At the time I was rather shocked because I believed prostate cancer to be something that folks in their sixties and beyond usually get. So I had a little bit of a hard time believing that to be true. But the more I read about it the more I realized that indeed younger people do get prostate cancer.

Once I was diagnose I did a lot of research. On the internet through the web, I read everything in could get my hands on I talked to people who had been in this position. And I think that most guys who are diagnosed with prostate cancer would probably tell you once they find out the hardest part is determining the path of treatment and that was indeed the case with me. The big pro for me for the surgery, for the robotic surgery was that once the surgery is over you know where you stand . You know that id your PSA is zero that the chances are that you’ve been cured. With radiation, the con that I felt was there with radiation that once you have the radiation treatment it could be months or even as much as a year before you know exactly whether you’ve been cured or not or the treatment was successful. So for me surgery came out on top.

When I first came in to Dr. Miller’s office I had already consulted with physicians who specialized in radiation therapy and at the time I first came in to Dr. Miller’s I was leaning towards radiation therapy. But in speaking to Dr. Miller he walked me through step by step the procedure, the pros and cons of the surgery and in a very honest fashion. He did not in ,my opinion try to lean me towards any particular answer or any particular way of looking at things. He let me draw my own conclusion so I felt it was very low pressure, very fact oriented. I felt like Dr. Miller truly wanted the best for me. He truly believed that in my situation the robotic surgery was the best situation,

Coming out of the hospital the first day, in most surgeries, is probably the roughest. While it its not, the robotic surgery, is not as invasive as a true surgery or traditional surgery. I was sore and I was groggy. There was a catheter involved which was an inconvenience if nothing else, I found that as the week progresses after my surgery I became much stronger and the pain subsided almost the next day in my case. I felt almost one hundred percent within a week. I felt like I could have gone to work out or walk outside or do whatever I needed to with in a week and it was very much a rapid recovery for me. Never looked back, really the surgery was highly successful for me. I’ve not had any lasting side effects my PSA has been zero since the surgery and that’s been over two years now. I’ve never regretted the decision to go with the surgery Never regretted the decision to put my faith and trust in Dr. Miller and his staff who are all great. It has been a textbook for me and a complete success.
